Georgia’s 2026 season set the conference standard over the long haul. The Bulldogs won a school-record 53 games, captured the SEC regular-season championship, added their first SEC Tournament title, and returned to Omaha for the first time since 2008.
The season at a glance
2026 final record: 53-14 overall. SEC: 23-7. Conference finish: First.
Those achievements matter together. A regular-season championship measures repeated performance across ten conference weekends. A tournament title demands another kind of execution. Georgia delivered both, then kept winning deep into the NCAA postseason. The year was much broader than a good seed or one favorable bracket.
How it ended
The Athens Super Regional against Mississippi State was a demanding offensive fight: Georgia advanced with 13-12 and 11-9 victories, the second in ten innings. In Omaha, Georgia beat Texas twice, 7-1 and 2-0. Oklahoma supplied both of the Bulldogs’ losses there, including the 11-4 game that ended Georgia’s season in the semifinal round.
What the season tells us
The disappointment of coming up short of the championship belongs in this story, but it should not obscure what Georgia established. This was the SEC’s most accomplished team across the regular season and conference tournament, with a national semifinal finish to back it up. The challenge for the next team is continuity: carrying the standard forward after a season that will be difficult to reproduce even for a very good roster.
