Texas put together one of the SEC’s strongest 2026 seasons and carried it to Omaha. The Longhorns finished 46-15, placed second in conference play, and ended tied for fifth nationally after their 39th College World Series appearance.

The season at a glance

2026 final record: 46-15 overall. SEC: 19-10. Conference finish: Second.

The NCAA run began with a clean regional in Austin. Texas then swept Oregon in the super regional, winning 11-3 and 6-5. Those games showed two ways to advance: overwhelming an opponent in one game and doing enough to finish a much tighter one the next night. The Longhorns arrived in Omaha having won five straight tournament games.

How it ended

Georgia proved to be the obstacle Texas could not clear. The Bulldogs won the opener 7-1. Texas responded by beating Alabama 14-2, then lost the rematch with Georgia 2-0. Holding a dangerous Georgia offense to two runs kept the final game within reach, but Texas managed only four hits and could not score.

What the season tells us

This season offers a strong case for treating Texas as an established contender in its SEC setting. The record and the postseason advancement support that assessment without relying on the name on the uniform. The remaining step is winning the games that decide who stays in Omaha. In 2026, Texas produced an excellent season and a credible championship opportunity, then ran into a conference rival twice at the final stage.
