The 2027 Vanderbilt schedule gives our preseason discussion a set of actual dates. The matchups below are the three I would circle first: tests of roster depth and contender expectations, rather than a claim that preseason national rankings have already settled the league.
As of October 7, the school has released its complete 56-game regular-season schedule.
Apr 16 – Apr 18 · at Georgia
Athens is the first of two major April road measuring sticks. Georgia is one of our leading preseason cases, even with lineup turnover. Vanderbilt’s reworked rotation must turn talent into repeatable innings, and the lineup must keep producing when one big swing is unavailable.
Apr 30 – May 2 · at Texas
Austin gives the Commodores a direct comparison with another of our strongest early contenders. Our Vanderbilt discussion centers on replacing lost pitching responsibilities; this is where the innings behind the first starter become especially important.
May 7 – May 9 · vs. Florida
The Gators come to Hawkins immediately after the Texas trip. Florida’s pitching foundation makes this a valuable test of Vanderbilt’s offensive depth. I want to see the lineup create traffic and competitive at-bats throughout the series, rather than wait for a single hitter to rescue it.
